Who needs or wants to try some Schaeffers9000 synthetic??

OK, hears the deal, before RRE I ordered from this farm shop that deals in Schaeffers, I ordered two 5 gallon pails, enough to do 2 oil changes and then some. Their right down the road from me in Morgantown, Pa. easy to get too from the turnpike and R23. I was going to get this order but with my shearing problem with the straight syn., was told by other oil gerus to try the 7000 syn. blend, which I told the fella that ordered the oil. So, in a nut shell, the Schaeffers dealer said he would hold my order and give me a chance to offer it to our FTE family and the guys around me if they were interested in purchasing it and giving it a try in their trucks. PM me if your interest and we can meet up and I'll take yaa down to get it. I have the original bill he sent me telling me what the charge is, so I'll show you. So a few of you Pa. guy want to try the good stuff, PM me...

What shearing problem? I only ask because I am considering going into the nearest large city and picking up some 9000 for this winter. Considering getting 10 gallons for 2 oil changes, or about 2 and 1/2

Vis, as long as u dont have big oil(dual HPOPs) you shouldnt have a shearing issue with the 9000. but if a person has Dual pumps, i would recommend the 7000. I love the 9000 in my truck right now, worked great last winter for me in Spokane. U can get the Schaeffers in Spokane, i wanna say Whitley something or other, pretty reasonable too. I will find out from SuperDoodie. thatss where i will be getting my oil from. the Syn blend should do well, have not heard a bad thing about it. Schaeffers makes some good oils, thats what is going in my truck all around, diffs, transfer case, trans(wen i do my BTS), and engine oil.

Good to know. I am actually changing my oil on Friday to the 9000. I was worried there for a minute!

I'm gonna stick with the 7000 but that's a great offer, Mike.

Sorry fellas, didn't get into the shearing problem I had because it would have been a long post and I was beat but hear it goes, feel better now:: After running Rotella all those years, I went to the Schaeffers 9000 at my regular 10,000 intervals, had an oil UOA on my last load of Schaeffers(2) and my 40 weight oil went down to a 30 weight. Everything concerning wear, contaminates, ect were fine but the Schaeffers lab tech. told me to do an 8000 mile change next time and test and we'll see where I am. I put roughly 500 miles a week on my truck a week so its always rolling. Still have my .17 stock pump. So, the reason, its not the oil, its my extended oil change intervals and was told by Rich whiteBuffalo and others to try the 7000 syn. blend Schaeffers.

Why would shearing take place with the 9000 series and not with the 7000 series when running two HPOP's? Is the 9000 too thin?

Thats my guess Jason. I have read about people getting their Blackstone reports back after running it thru the Dual Pumps and it has sheared.

Let me clarify. A 15w40 engine oil's base stock is a 15w oil. In order to bring this oil to a 40w under operating temps they use polymers. For a lack of better terms the polymers swell and thus slows the flow of oil. Viscosity is a fluids resistance to flow. A 5w40's base stock is a 5w. That is why we see good results in the winter time when we switch to a 5w40. The oil will flows faster at start up. They have to use more polymers in this case to make the oil a 40w at operating temps. What is getting sheared is the polymers. Therefore you can see a loss in viscosity. If a person is using Dual HPOPS, then a 15w40 may be a better choice. If you have a stock HPOP I would stick with the 5w40 and not worry about it. A good thing about Schaeffer's 7000 15w40 it is part syn and you can get just about as good performance from it. Hope this clarifies.

Thanks Jamie for the clarification, I know you guys answered alot of my questions on my UOA and i,m grateful for that. Like I said earlier, gonna try the 15-40 syn. blend this time to see what happens after 8000 miles with an UOA.

My next oil change will be more than likely the 7,000. I am not going back to 9,000 for sure.

Jason,
Just make sure that when you take this sample to have the oil at operating temps and catch the oil after several seconds of it being drained. I believe you got a heavy dose of wear metals due to oil not being circulated and you caught the first bit of oil that came out of the pan. Wear metals settle out and are the first thing to come out of the pan. I can just about assure you will have better luck this time around.
