Bellhousing, clutch for a 460 and t-18 tranny
I have a 460 I am going to put in my 1979 F-250 4x4 and was wondering what setup I would need for the manual transmission. I was told that the 351M/400 and 460 all share the same bellhousing and that I could use that bellhousing. Would I also buy a flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, etc for a 351M/400? Are they different diameters, # of teeth on the flywheel?

You can use a 390 flywheel with the 351M/400 bell housing on your 460 motor. You just need to match the correct pressure plate to the 390 flywheel. More than likely I beleive you will need the three finger pressure, older stly but double check on that. it's been a very long time since I've done the swap.
The only thing you loose with the 390 flywheel is the 12 inch clutch which is pricey anyways. The 390 will be an 11 inch clutch.
