I recently put new Borgeson shaft and joints on my Volare 55. They were as stated; 5/8-36 X 3/4 DD.

Problem solved. I called the vendor and after some discussion he decided that I did have the correct U-joint package for my application (014921) but that the wrong U-joint came in the package. On their instructions, I sent it back to Borgeson Universal and they sent me a new joint that fits perfectly. It's the same package and number (014921) . Obviously, it was mislabeled at Borgeson before it was sent out to the vendor. You would think that they would have apologized for the mixup but there was absolutely no comment. I guess they didn't want to admit that a mistake in packaging was made....

Thanks for everyone's help...

If I were to venture a guess at who was responsible for the incorrect part being placed in the packaging I would look at the vendor before Borgeson...maybe that's why you didn't get an apology from the manufacturer. In fact, that sort of mixup SHOULD be handled by the vendor and not have to bring the manufacturer into the issue...the vendor is the manufacturer's rep to the customer and should take care of these issues directly for the customer. Glad to hear that you got a resolution to your problem though, these "wrong part" issues can make you crazy.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think so. The vendor called Borgeson when I contacted them about the part and Borgeson called me within 15 minutes. They (the vendor) said they had encountered problems before with Borgeson U-joints not being packaged correctly and was not happy about it. I think if the problem was on the Vendor's end they (the vendor) would have handled the exchange instead of referring it to Borgeson. I'm just glad it's all over and I have the right joint. It cost me an extra $5 to ship the mispackaged joint to Borgeson. That's 5 bucks I'll never see again...

I used Flaming River joints on my first truck and I should have stuck with them...

That's the first I've heard of this problem with Borgeson...I'll pay closer attention to the local vendors experiences with them to see if there is a problem here in SoCal as well. Most times that I have seen a wrong part in a package is when the part was bought and returned by another customer, that's why I pointed to the vendor. Glad to hear that you're up and running again!
