It's here

Well the Mercedes I plan to dismantle for the turbo diesel 6 cylinder for my F2 is now at my home. The guy I bought it from stated that it has a bad transmission and would not shift out of 1 gear. Not sure what his problem is, but I drove the car through all it's gears just fine yesterday. Now I almost hate to part the car out since everything works on it.

That is a nice looking car. I hope you are going to use the front seats in your truck. See how much more you can adapt.

If you're hacking it up you may as well go all the way!

He left the html tag off the front. If you click any of these:

http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo...eat=directlink
http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo...eat=directlink
http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo...eat=directlink

it will now take you to the pictures.

Otto, I would be willing to bet you could transplant the IFS and IRS to the truck too if you want to.

BACAGrizz, I had thought bout using the rest of the MB as well. But I have decided to try and keep the soul of my F2, an F2. I plan on keeping the front straight axle, but updating to disc brakes on it. I will be updating to a D60 in the rear. Thus keeping it 8 lug style wheels.
Moreover the truck was originally a non-synchronized 3 speed with a flathead straight 6. I plan on using a MB 5 spd and the MB turbo diesel straight 6.
I think it will be cool trying to stay close to it's heritage as possible, as I have not seen many F2's on the road.

I like your idea of keeping the original front axle and using disc brakes. Have you found 8 lug rotors & a set of calipers?

jbrittonjr, yes I have the disc brake set up I need for my front axle. I got the information off of FTE. I will be using mid 80's Dodge dully rotors, and I have the mounting plates and calipers off of my old 1976 F350 2wd. I also have a Toyota power steering box off a early Toyota 4x4 (straight axle).

And to think, I was going to use a Europe donor car too, and now have to reconsider the whole Yugo thing.
