302 on an airboat

have a 74 302 on my airboat. just blew it up and rebuilt with everything new except the carb. my carb was cracked so i bought a 2bbl for 10 bucks (d4te-la). what can i do to get a little more hp. remember, an airboat max rpm is 3000. i am at 2800 but would like to get a little more. been playing with the timing. im atleast 10 degrees advanced right now

help

let me add more.....new pistons, rings, bearings, cam, cam bearings, valves, lifters.....and an old carb. i would like to find something i can do to the carb to gain me some hp. just need a little and i'll fly

Well, it probably has a marine cam, so even 2800 rpms is pushing it. That being said, you have to tune it with a vacuum gauge and make sure it is at between 0-3 Hg at WOT and 2800 rpms when adjusting the carb.

You probably should have posted in the 302 v-8 forum, fwiw.
