68,983 F100 Unit-Body pickups were assembled in 1962.

There is no production figure breakdowns available as to how many were Custom Cabs, Standard Cabs. How many came with what engine, transmission, etc.

What I posted is all the info that's available. If someone chimes in and mentions martiauto.com, Marti has nothing available prior to 1967.

NumberDummy, do you have production numbers for 63? do you have numbers for both unibody and non? what about swb vs lwb?

i'm still getting up on the lingo... what's a non-unibody truck called?

It depends whether the truck is a Flareside or Styleside = Unit's were called this, too. There were other body types besides these two.

1963 F100 Unit-Body: 40,535 / 1963 F250 Unit-Body: 5,456.
-----------------------------------------------------------
1963 F100 non Unit Body:

Chassis & Cowl (Open Drive-Away): 20 / Chassis & Windshield (Open Drive-Away): 19 / Cab & Chassis 2WD: 6,686 / Cab & Chassis 4WD: 179.

Platform & Rack (Stake Bed): 190 / Flareside Pickup 2WD: 35,963 / Flareside Pickup 4WD: 967.

Styleside Pickup 2WD: 76,728 / Styleside Pickup 4WD: 2,809.

There are no production figures available AFAIK that break down the above as to how many were short or long beds, Custom or Regular Cabs, and etc.

1961 unit bodies produced

While you are on the subject of production numbers. Could you tell me how many were produced in 1961. Also the 1961 grille has the ford letters in it? Then for 1962 and on they raised them up. Is this correct?

The F O R D letters are made as part of the grille in 1961.

1962/66: The F O R D letters are individual parts, mounted on the upper grille panel. 1962/64 is the same, 1965/66 are different.

1961 F100 Unit-Body Pickup: 62,410 // 1961 F250 Unit-Body Pickup: 10,008.

Thanks

Thank you Number Dummy. I was wondering I have seen a number of trucks advertised as being 1961 and not having the right grille in place. Guess these had just been changed.

One more question as to the grilles I assume that the custom cabs had the chrome looking grille and headlight bezels?

This is not surprising, considering how many years have passed by.

Any 1961/66 grille will interchange, but there are differences.

For example, in order to use 1965/66 grilles in 1961/64's, the 1965/66's upper grille panel has to be installed, because this is where the parking lamps are.

1961/64: The parking lights are in the grille.

1961/62's use the same parking lights. 1963 is different, 1964 is different from 1963.

1961 Custom Cab grilles are chromed steel. 1962/66 Custom Cab grilles are anodized aluminum.

Custom Cabs have "bright" headlamp doors.

I've seen both chrome and anodized aluminum headlamp doors on these trucks.

Of course you can change the grills to your liking, just like I did.
I have a 66 grill on my 1964. So yes, looks can be deceiving

Since you didn't install the '65/66 upper grille panel, where did you install the parking lights?

Wherever they are, they are well hidden, cuz I no see um.
