03 Navigator - interior lights don't turn off???

So, I have no idea what is up - the interior lights will not go off. Car running or not. The only way to get them off is to turn the rocker switch all the way until it clicks them off, but then there are no lights and all dash lights are on the dimmest setting... If you leave them off for a while then turn the rocker back on (about 10 minutes or so) they will not come back on as they should until a door is opened. Then voila!!! they stay on again... Anyone have any clue??

Is the switch bad? I've also noticed that the on-board computer display continuously shows a door open even though all doors have been verified closed...are they related and what would cause the open door issue?

Thanks all! This is our first Navigator!

Wrong forum or not, it you have a "door open" the interior lights will be on.

That's part of the courtesy light function. Had this problem on my '02 Explorer and it's the door sensors that are the problem. I think there's a contact on the little rod looking thingie that enters/exits the door edge at the hinge area. Cleaned them and the problem stopped.

I had this problem on my 95 Windstar. Had to unplug the sensor on the offending door and that solved. Only problem is lights don't come on when the door is opened and no door adjar warning. Will work until you replace the bad sensor though.
