Dsp

I can't figure out why my '09 F-150 FX-4 doesn't have the "DSP" feature? It has the bass/treble; balance/fade; SCV; and Visualizer but no DSP. Any ideas?

digital signal processing

It doesn't appear that these new Sony systems have it. But the old Audiophile systems did.

My 09 F-150 does not have it, but I can get all of the DSP information. I think (but cannot remember right now) the DSP function is in a different location for the 09 vs the 10. We just got my wife's new Mustang GT and I had the Nav/Sync system put into it and it is there for her car.

IMO DSP is waaay over rated. Kind of a gimmick, adding unnatural sounding effects to recorded music.

Could those of you with the Sony Nav system single cd check this out for me so know it was the leap from Audiophile to Sony that changed this? The manual says otherwise.

I did check, that's why I said it doesn't appear that the new Sony systems has it. My Platinum has the same Sony Nav system. Which manual are you talking about, the separate manual for the Nav?

Scot, don't confuse DSP with the RDBS feature (Radio Data Broadcast System). if you enable RDBS, it allows you to search RDBS-equipped stations for a certain category of music format: CLASSIC, COUNTRY, JAZZ/RB, ROCK, etc. It also displays the name or call letters of the radio station, and song names.

where did you get online Nav guide? I could only find the standard owner's manual/guide to download. The standard owner's manual (online 3rd printing) does not mention DSP at all under the radio controls section.

thanks. of course I have these manuals but they are in my glove box and I'm at work right now.

that is strange, I do recall briefly reading the Nav guide when I first got my truck and seeing that. But we don't have that feature for some reason?
