Time to buy tires

I've always been surprised at the hate of the stock Continentals. I was also surprised they came on the Expedition with the "off road" package.
I've got 55,000 miles on mine and aside from some wear at the tread edges they're fine. Sure not off-road tires but I've never been stuck in the snow (we get 12 feet annually here, just not all at once) or failed to extract the boat from the ramp.
I had a couple of sets of Bridgestone AT Dueler REVOs on my Explorer. Put Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenzas on the last time and they're very nice. My daughter has the Explorer over in PA at her college. Probably put them on the Expedition as well this fall.

brand new 1998 F-150 4x4 with them
went out muddin' in Texas. so basically a little dirt and mud. no rocks.
came back home and chunks of rubber were missing. Ford refused to Warranty since they had been used in a offroad application. If a tire can do that with such light use, I'll never use that brand ever again

Tire Rack has the specs, including weight and diameter. AND they have reviews. Sometimes you get one guy with 50k on a tire, and the next guy is done at 25k, but you do see trends for some tires--Contis and some Bridgstones.
Also, regarding the Revo in particular, and tires for this size vehicle in general: Many of these tires come in a P rating and LT rating. Depending on your driving, the P might work, and give better ride and mpg. If you need the tougher tire, the LT will work.
Considering Revo's for my ride, just need to find a way to convince the wife the brand new tires on it are no good. Good luck, there are millions to choose from.

So, a decent tire, all the better if you can get a deal.

I have coopers on all of our work trucks and on my half ton GMC and I have always had good luck with them and we are putting on about 40k a year gravel and highway with some nasty winter roads. I have also heard Yokohama geolanders do pretty good for the guys running the oil fields north of here and I know they are mostly ran on gravel.

Check out eBay. I bought four brand new (still had the little nubs on them) Pirelli scorpions mounted on OEM wheels (with the pressure sensors) from a Lincoln dealer that was closing up for less than the tires only price on line.
They were take offs from a new truck.

Moderator, not trying to hijack the thread just making a point that there are some wheel and tire packages for sale including mine on Ebay
