I have a large cobra cb for my truck, and still can't figure a spot that would look right.... My plans are to get a set of captain chairs / center consul and mount the cb on the front or back side of the consul. idk where for a bench seat though...

If your truck is a regular cab, you may be able to mount it under the back window and buy an extention mic wire to the dash.... just an idea

you aren't the only one, I have a cobra 18wx stII sitting on my dash that's wired to a 108" whip cus I don't have a bracket for the radio lol. If you're looking for a cheap set up i'd start ebay hunting. Antenna wise, whips are ok but if you don't want to trill out mounting points, i'd go with a k40 magnet mount antenna. I paid 20 for the antenna and 10 for the whip(radio shack for the antenna and ebay for the mount).

I mounted my whip to the top of my toolbox. I drilled a hole in the top and ran it to there so I did not drill holes in the body.

You could always screw it to the headliner. Just make sure you dont drill thru the roof. And use short enough screws not to dimple the roof

I got a roof cubby from a 2000 Chevy 2500HD at the junkyard and mounted it to that. It hangs right above the rear view mirror so it doenst get in the way and still looks good. Also they say that the dual whips actually are worse for reception than the single dorsal or single whip unless you take the truck in to get them professionally calibrated.
