Fuel gauge calibration

Huh? Tell me more about that. How can there not be a float? I know the sender feeds back through the PCM, even in the '05 and up trucks. But there is still a float. So, if no float, how does it sense the fuel level?

My 2008 has a float, it is all self contained in the fuel pump assembly, when they changed the pump on it they bent the float assy, I had to pull the tank and bend it back. They also had the wiring harness wrapped around the assy. so the float could not go down all the way. I would take it back and make them fix it, they are calibrated from the factory and could be a real pia to get right, if you guess you may have to drop the tank more than once to get it right.

I may have spoken out of context, while there is a float assembly, It was explained to me that the PCM reads the fuel level by electronic pulse feedback from the tank. I have had more than a couple of people explain this system to me. One of which is an excellent diesel tech at a Ford dealership, another is the the owner of a company which builds, sells and installs aux fuel tanks.

Fuel Guage
So, I'm considering the Titan 50 gal fuel tank, as I pull a 5th wheel. How do they recalibrate the fuel guage for the larger tank? Bend the float? The Ford dealer said they recal the gauge after installation, but I'm thinking about installing it my self and just taking it in for recalibration. Any thoughts?
