Dash bulbs

HI All, I have an 1982 with a 1986 dash. What is the brightest bulb I can install with out melting anything?

LED's would be the brightest, but you loose the dimming ability. i have heard a lot of satisfied customers plug this site.... http://www.superbrightleds.com/1157.htm although i have never dealt with them myself.
