97 F250 EFI help

I need some opinions. I have a 97 F250 4x4 Crew Cab, 3.55 gears with 35 inch BFGs. I have the K&N panel filter in stock box, air horns cut out, 12 degree advanced timing, l&l long tube headers, 3 inch exhaust w/new Magnaflow cat (got to have in AZ) and Flowmaster. Everything else is stock, including the speed density and throttle body.

I'm looking at a cam change (possibly Lunati Voodoo 61601 or 61602) and possibly a bigger throttle body. I know an adjustable fuel pressure regulator is in my very near future.

My question is will a chip/flash of my existing computer allow the SD to handle it or do I need a change to MAF? I've been following the build by 4wheeling79 and it looks like he needed the programmer to get anything from his MAF conversion. I like the MAF swap, but I run an A4OD trans, so this necessitates a transmission controller. Right?

I have virtually no power trying to climb the mountain highways out of Phoenix (about a 6000 ft climb over miles of highways). Always has to shift down.

Need input on ideas and where to go. Trying to keep it cheap too, so the MAF swap would have to be done via used parts.

Thanks for any help.

I understand that you are interested in a cam change, but the logical next step for you would be lower gears; 4.56s with the 35" tires or 4.10s and drop down to 33" tires. The cam change sounds cheaper initially, but all the additional parts add up. The lower gears won't give you any more power, but they will help get your heavy butt over the mountain passes...

+1 you need gears, your existing tires put your final drive ratio at 3:1 which is no good for anything except cruising on flat highways.
