I tried that once...I about had a heart attack when the homemade mount let go with a quart of coolant split on the driveway. I was ready to call a yard at last.

X2, my 79 have a recovery bottle from the factory but not my '78.

No such thing was available factory installed until 1980 excepting 1973/74 F100 240 I-6 2WD & M/T.

Basic part number is 8A080, here's the page (upper) from the parts catalog. 8522 is the basic number for the dealer installed kit (lower pic).

The truck is not currently with me but once it is I will look at bracket. I know it's not just sitting there. It is attached to the front end frame.
