93 F350 Crewcab suspension improvements?

I heard of the front shackel conversion but can't find any details on it and I need to remove a bunch of extra leafs the prev owner added (1 in front and 3 from the back). What can I do to make the truck ride better? If I loose a lot of height by removing the extra springs should I have the old ones re-bent or buy new ones?

It's a F350 it is supposed to ride stiff. I have a '92 F350 4x4 I know exactly what you are talking about, but it is a heavy duty truck. You should not lose much if any height when removing the extra springs the PO installed. The cheapest way to make your truck ride better is adding ~750 lbs. of weight in the bed.

The front springs should be 2 leafs for stock,...rear should be 4 leafs and a straight load carry leaf totaling 5 for stock,....if your gonna buy new springs you can purchase Skyjacker softride springs, they are better ride quality than stock ,(I think so)and you can retain a 4inch lift,....the reverse shakle kit will alter the ride a little but not, worth the cost of the kit in my opinion,if I were getting it for the ride purpose only,....load range and psi and type of tires can change the ride also to a certain degree,..all depends on what your wanting your truck to do ?

Thanks for the responses. I don't plan to offroad much but need to be able to do some when I go camping or hunting. Mainly I just need to tame it a bit so it is able to soak up bumps. There are 8 total leafs in the rear and 3 total in the front and there are older bilstein shocks (2 per axle) with a rancho steering stablizer (?) that is horizontal on the front axle.

Yes. it is called a Reverse Shackle Kit(RSK) Off Road Unlimited(ORU) and SKY manufacturing make them. They add approx 2.5" of lift and make one hell of a ride improvement!

The best way to get lift and ride is us SD springs and a RSK to relocate the front spring hangers. Then you will have the ride of a SD! And rear SD springs bolt right in place of the stock springs, all you have to do is drill out the front hanger for the larger spring bolt

I had one in my 97 F350 and i have on in my 96 w 4" lift springs in the front and 6" springs in the back
here is my 97 w stock springs, RSK in the front. Stock spings in the rear w a 5" block in place of the stock 4"

here is the 96 w the RSk and 4" font fit springs and 6" rear springs w a fitted add-a-leaf

Those trucks are badass!!!! I found this RSK that is a little cheaper http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/new...uct.php?id=162

But where do I get the SD springs and do I get them for both the front and back or just the front?

A common SD front spring is the "X" code for some lift a"V" code for a stock spring height. You do not need to put SD springs in the rear but you will get a better ride w both of them swapped. Another common thing to do is put SD Icon rear 5" lift springs in and do away w the factory rear block.

As for finding SD springs you can go to your local 4x4 shop and see if they have any stock SD springs from a lift they installed, Or a JY, Or you can go to ford and buy them new. ......O yeah the "B" codes are the best ridding rear ones

ya it has a 4" lift on it and then i did the shackle reversal to it to improve the ride since it rode like a rock. 4" springs are stiff.
