Removing 2nd row headrest?

So the 2nd row headrest is really getting in the way of the kid's seat. Is there a way to take off that headrest (Without destroying of course) until she gets old enough to wear we can get that kid seat out of there and put the headrest back on. Any thoughts? Ideas? Anyone got a manual?

Thanks for your help.

have you got the headrest folded down? or in the upright position

how big a carseat are we talking?

I've got all 3 of my kids in carseats in mine. no issues luckily. The 11 month olds are in the center row and the 5 yr old is in the very back.

but I did notice how much headroom is lost if you leave the headrest lowered.

btw, sorry I don't know how to remove them. I've looked for about 5 seconds a little while back, but got distracted. I need to figure this out as well. I'll be running DVD headrests in the near future and will need to remove mine

Headrest is up. The top part of the carseat pushes into the headrest and doesn't allow the car seat to sit as flush as possible to the back of the truck seat.

I have the .pdf of the exploded view of the seat which shows how to pull the head rest off. PM me and I can email it to you.

To remove the head restraint.

Pull the trim cover material away from the head restraint guide to access the spring clips.
Release the 2 spring clips by pushing on the side.
Raise and remove the head restraint.

Berry and SLC thanks so much for the information. Easier than I expected. The clips are asymmetrical. A simple small nosed plier worked fine to pull them off. Headrest slid right out.

Thanks to all 3. I just bought a '12 and needed just this.

LUV this site. Kept my '97 going 155K and gave to my daughter as it was as close to new as possible.

Hello and greetings from Iceland.

We have a Ford Expedition 2008 and my wife bought a new kids seat and it didn´t fit because of the headrest, but after some google-ing i was brought to this page and it removing of the headrest was very easy and the kids seat now sits at the right place.

Thank you all for the solutions on this thread.
