well, the design you show is the earlier "up to 07" superduty tow mirrors...

The convex mirror got a lot larger, and the flat miror gained the top outside corner. The square body of the mirrors goes well with the squarer look of the truck...

1ATony: Trying to understand this a bit better. They look like the older style trailer towing mirrors, but is that wiring--and more specifically, the plug--built for the newer '08+ Super Duties?

Having had both styles of towing mirrors, my preference stays with the newer, albeit square models. That larger convex mirror is awesome.

Now having said that, I still maintain that anyone with the older style towing mirrors is not doing themselves any favors by not adding a set of C-BETR mirrors.

Yes that's the plug for the 08+ Super Duties. There are alot of variables with these trucks and things that change. So when the manufacturer says that these are the year ranges that it fit's,that's what we stick with to prevent any issues.

This is what I was getting at...

What does this aftermarket mirror offer that the OEM or an Aftermarket OER doesn't? Could the manufacturer have been wrong about the year?

yea im not seeing why anyone would want the older style mirrors on a 08+ truck..

if anything people with the older style mirrors want the new square 08+ models..

the power-fold/telescope feature is kickass.

It may simply be a cheaper alternative. Also, adding the full power fold/extend mirrors is undoubtedly going to be a bit harder than simply plugging in mirrors that just have the marker/turn signal lights in them.

Most people ditch those mirrors for the newer 08+ Thats what I did. As far as fitment, they will fit 99-2010, only difference is the connector. I think the mfg of those mirrors simply have the wrong application listed.

Ok I asked about some of your concerns in the office over here this morning,so don't shoot the messenger and that guy that gave an FTE member a free set of mirrors.

Yes the mirror itself is just like what was offered on the pre 2008 models, the base (from what I'm told) fits the newer 08+ Super Duty trucks.

Both mirror styles look great, however the manufacturer has to make the newer style mirror different in some way,so this is why the new replacement mirror is not exactly like what's on the newer model trucks.

However if you break a mirror a new OEM one lists for 480+ dollars. The new aftermarket ones will be less than half that cost.

Hope this had answered some of them questions and concerns that you have had.

but you'd have to by two, since it doesn't match...

The cost of a set of aftermarket ones, would still be less expensive than 1 OEM replacement.

Let us know when they start making the actual 08 style that looks like the factory ones. I would imagine they would sell extremely well.

I see everyone jumping on the 08+ mirrors. This style is the 05 style. Seems odd that an 08 would have the 05 mirrors but it is an upgrade from paddle mirrors.

There is no diference in the base of 08+ mirrors and 07 and older mirrors. But I do applaud you for sending out a free set of mirrors to a lucky FTE member
