Hey guys,
I'm a machinist and have been thinking about making a two-piece Ford emblem with a LED light enclosed in the two halves. I've been wanting to do this for awhile and have recently been looking into LED lighting and wiring. It seem as if there is some interest in a product like this so I will probably start manufacturing in the next couple weeks. My idea was to recreate the emblem out of 6061 aluminum as a two piece assembly that could hold the LED light on the inside. I would machine away the word "Ford" and then epoxy some type of plastic or acrylic on the inside behind "Ford" to allow the light to shine through. Those that are interested can shoot me an email at dabonemachinist@cfl.rr.com. Please be sure to include the year of your truck because I'm sure that sizes and bolt patterns differ. I personally have a 2007 and would love to hear any suggestions or interest via email. I don't really browse this forum much so email is the best way to reach me. Again this is jsut an idea I wanted to bring to fruition and this post has inspired me to get this project into the R&D stage. I would most definitely anodize the finished product which can be done in almost any color or type of coating.

I'm not really worried about trademark/legal issues because I'm not going to produce and sell this item to make a profit. Once I get mine proved out I will be happy to make a few for forum members for whatever my expenses are, no more than that though. I can't imagine I would even get noticed by Ford.

Not trying to take the wind out of your sail. Just be very cautious. I would be willing to bet on a Ford forum of this size, Ford has computer guys watching and listening. I know on other forums that I am a member of (in different industries), manufacturers have people involved to get ideas from their customers.
