That's the part that had me curious. The custom tuning with those sticks probably wasn't customized to minimize smoke at start up, if you know what I mean. That Jody fellow seems to be more concentrated on the go fast part of the equation.

If it clears up when warm, you could either start it up in the stock setting, or just ignore it. With the hybrids, I'm not sure it the stock setting will cure the issue. The high idle for a faster warm up may be the way to go.

The other option of course would be to move South. We had a high of 98 here today. No issues with cold starts here.

Jody? lol, i've met the man, but havent run his products. Matt Robinson does mine. My truck starts fine, 95*, -5*, always like a champ, not coughing, sputtering.
Stock setting? lol I dont have one, the closest thing i've got is my heavy tow tune. It doesnt really matter too much either way, with the injectors and his tuning whether its hot or cold I always have a healthy haze rolling out for quite a few min after start up.

Stock don't help. I don't plan to give up that easy. Cant move ether so I will look on. Maybe some tuning would help? Any way thanks for the ideals

Eddie, one thing I would like to add is that I have had 3 different motors in my truck but all had single shot injectors and big oil systems.. All three had the same characteristics as you are describing with the smoke on cold start and the shakes..

I personally don't worry about it anymore, it seems to be a common thing with highly modded truck.. I should also note that I dropped my compression a turd hair on the current motor.

Greg your not the first to say this but you are highly modded I still have drop in stuff. I guess I will try a few things before I give up. At least it runs like a bat out of he_l and it does start good. I need to get my chip upgraded to my new set up any way but I want to put it on the AE and see where its all at.

I don't get any smoke when I start mine. except a puff of black smoke. It idles best usually on cold start up (~75-80* here). I get a flutter and shake intermittently, after warm up, at idle. It runs smoother when under a slight load like when in gear and a/c is on. I removed my HPX (had slight seep ffrom O-ring on HPO rail fitting) when I installed the Stealth Pump and plan on putting it back after my O-rings (from Rick's) and 1.15 turbine housing (from Clay) arrive. I will wait until all the parts are here, so I can R&R the 38R while the the HPX is out of the way.
