Whadyathink?

I want to change my grill to one like this: http://www.carpartsdiscount.com/auto...html?3593=5260

Anybody got any idea what kind of quality I could expect from it?

Thanks

is that a insert? maybe i'm reading it wrong, but do you need to cut the centers out of your grill then insert these pieces?

You know, that's what it must be for that price. It says in the add to "remove your grill from it's frame". I wonder if that meand ya gotta cut the center out of it. I think you're right, it's an insert!

Not a good thing, right?

i don't know. the inserts i've seen just go over your existing grill. i agree for the money it can't be a whole grill w/aluminum inserts. i think it looks pretty good.

Got the same grill on my 2001. It's not an insert. You can even put the oval on it. Looks good on my truck.

Strokin2u, did you get your's from this same vender? It says right in the ad that it IS an insert, and comes with the hardware to install it. If it was the whole grill, you shouldn't need extra hardware.

The wife got mine off the net. Don't know what web site she went to though. Had her try and find it again but no luck. Mine is not an insert. The wife says she paid a lot more then the one your looking at.(she's kicking herself now) Thats not a bad price even if it is an insert. Sorry i couldn't be of more help.

Im gonna say that even though it says insert, I'm kinda thinking they are talking about the whole grill assembly. They have a toll free number, why not just call and ask them? I like the look of those grills, but question the affects on cooling.

I too have since wondered if it cuts down on airflow. Call the toll free #. Why didn't I think of that?????

I was curious and just called. It is just an insert. You have to cut out the center part of your existing grill, then install the bar grill in the shell.

Thanks Chaosracing. I think I'll pass. The only way I'd take a chance on wasting the money is if I could see one already installed in person. Ya get what ya pay for!
So who can steer me toward a decent billet type grill that won't cost a limb?
