Potassium Hydroxide

I am in the process of buying another 50# bag of KOH. I was surprised to see it has doubled since I bought my last bag.
The best prices I found was on E-Bay. $123.99 with $46.72 shipping
Utah BD Supply $125.00 with $60.00 shipping
Is this the best we can do now? Sure is getting expensive to produce BD any more.
What about Methanol? The last drum I purchased was $250.00. I need another drum and I'm afraid that is "through the roof" also. Anyone got any decent up to date prices?
Thanks
Tom D

Methanol has gone down recently. Just paid $160 for a drum (Univar), and about $90 for my KOH (90%). Pretty varied pricing depending on where you're located. With natural gas prices dropping, my guess is that methanol prices will continue to drop a bit.

I buy mine in bulk from a chemical supplier so my costs are a lot lower than most (around $150/drum for Methanol, and $75/bag for KOH)

Tom, look around for a race track near you. Lots of racers use Methanol and the tracks are a good place to find it. Also look for commercial Chemical suppliers for KOH. Most large chemical suppliers carry it for automotive shops for there "hot tanks".

Get mine from the local supplier "Black Hills Chemical & Janitorial" @ $99 per 50#. Don't know where he orders it from, but total with tax was $104.94. Might try a similar outfit if you have one...

Tom I live in Jeffersonville IN. We get our methanol and KOH delivered from a supplier who happens to be a friend of my partner, he delivers methanol for

Tom I live in southern Indiana and we get our methanol and KOH delivered for $145.00 for methanol and $2.00 pound for KOH. He is a friend of my partner and takes care of us. He stocks 6 drums of methanol and 2 bags of KOH at all times. All we do is call for a delivery and that is free. Good luck on sourcing your supplies. Jeep

Nope..Haven't had a chance to tear it apart and correct any problems. I will either make it larger or I may toss it and build a plumber's delight.
