Question 55 F250 Driveshaft & Yoke Rebuild Question

Good Morning Everybody. Now that I have finished restoring the rear suspension, brakes, and axle, I have moved to the Driveshaft, U-Joints, Seals, and the Yoke.

Well, I have a question about the Yoke. When I took it appart for sandblasting and paint, there is a little metal grooved type washer inside of the yoke, but there was also a rubber type grooved insert that went between the yoke cap and the yoke itself and the washer. This rubber insert essentially crumbled in my hands when I took it out, and I was wondering what this piece is called, and more importantly where can I get one and what is its part number? Here are a few pictures from today. Please advise. Thanks.

I only have a 48-54 parts catalog with no supersede number info, but it is a “SEAL (universal joint knuckle dust cap) 01Y-7097”. I think it’s just a chunk of felt material to keep the grease in/dirt out.

Thumbs up

Yea, I thought it might be felt or cork like material. I thought it was just a round piece, but upon closer inspection it seems to have teeth grooves cut into it to match the inside of the yoke grooves.
