Block cracked due to freezing

How long would it take for a 4.0L to freeze and crack the block.?
Anyone had any bad experiences with this.?

Depends on how cold it got for how long, wind. If it was just below freezing overnight you're probably OK.

Freeze plugs are there to get the sand out when the block is cast, I've heard tales of them pushing out when a block freezes but I've actually seen blocks crack and the freeze plugs stay intact. Is your block cracked or what?
