Recall 05b27 ??

So I take by truck to the dealer having found a pool of tranny fluid on m garage floor. The tech says there is a hole in my transmission case and replacement cost is close to 4k. Ugh...... Naturally I research the net and find there has been a recall on that exact transmission for the exact same problem. I call FORD, nothing "pay for the repair and if there is a future recall we will reimburse".......sure thing buddy. The build date falls in line with the recall parameters but it does not show up on the "oasis" What can I do next? thx
2004 f 250 6.0 lariat. No plow package from the factory but I do plow with it.

This is what I have found

Can you locate the recall number? If so, the dealership has to stand behind the terms of the recall. Also, was it a recall or a TSB?

It was a TSB, NOT a RECALL. Big difference.

WOAH, does this apply to all 05's, or just 05s with snow plows, if this affects my truck im gonna get looked at before this happens.

BTW, ive never heard of this TSB, i even put my vin in on fords recall website to see if anything came up when i first bought the truck, nothing

probably a tsb. Ford fixed them for trucks they suspected would be shifted into reverse alot (plowing). once they were fixed ford no longer cared to expand the tsb. My question is has this happened to anyone else? will ford meet me half way on a repair? it is very obvious that all of these transmissions are subject to failure from within.

Secondly, what is the solution. the dealer says 4k..........is it the same junk tranny? unable to rebuild due to hole in case.

Same thing just happened to my 05 F250

getting it fixed at a local shop

Here's my take on it

Ford knew the snap ring would eventually pop on all these transmissions

but it would show up first on 'plow trucks' because they are doing more forward - reverse shifts

so the contact the plow trucks and fix them (reduce busted case replacement warranty cost

everyone else

screw em, we can make more money selling them rebuilts after their warranty expires

google Pinto rear end crash fire

Ford figured it was cheaper to pay of the law suits to the burn victims than fix the gas tank hazzard

Yeah, I'm pissed

This is where a third successful fix had been devised -- a rather simple plastic insulator fitted on the differential that would keep the bolts from ever making contact with the fuel tank. Cost of this item was less than $1.

Several company memos presented as evidence during the civil trials revealed that these remedies were discussed, with the conclusion that to shut down production and retool would be too expensive. Most damaging to Ford were memos found and published by author/researcher Mark Dowie in the muckraking magazine Mother Jones that detailed a cost analysis of corporate liability in the event of having to compensate crash victims.
Experts calculated the value of a human life at around $200,000, while a serious burn injury was worth about $67,000. Using an estimate of 180 deaths and 180 serious burns, someone put on paper that the cost to redesign and rework the Pinto's gas tank would cost close to $137 million, while possible liability costs worked out to around $49 million.
