Access to this site slooooow? Just me?

I'm still on dial up internet access. DSL or cable is not available here. In hopes that Verizon will someday offer service. I'm not willing to do the satelite thing. Anyway, access to this site has gotten very slow. Is it just me? Could it be all the moving advertisements cause this? Bob

Have you deleted your temp, history, etc files lately? Defrag or cleaned your disc drive. It seems to help mine. Somtimes just doing right click and refresh helps. Sometime FTE is just sluggish. chuck

Make a note of what time it is when things are slow. I've found that sometimes late at night, the site really slows down. I don't know if it's maintenance or if the squirrel that powers the server is sleeping, but I tend to avoid those times.

And as 49 mentioned, maybe a temp folder delete, defrag, and restart (or turn off then turns back on) would help.

i have to think it is the ADS.... if their servers are slow, then this site will be...

the trickle down theory...

at times the ads (top banner) are the only thing that loads.... having to refresh a few times to cycle the problematic one out of the que....

I go to 3 or 4 forum sites everyday to see what's going on with other folks with the same interests as mine. This is by FAR the slowest one and hardest one to access. Often I think my "click" didn't work, so I'll try it again only to find it was in the process of working slowly so I go back two clicks. I often have to click twice to get out. Frankly, it is one reason I don't use this site much although I do love the content once I get in. I have been going to start a thread like this for a long time, but didn't want to complain, and didn't think it would do much good....slim

I got so sick of the ads for junk that doesn't fit my truck (even if I could afford it) that I installed Adblock Plus. The site may load a little faster, but I'm also saving energy by not bogging down the CPU playing animated ads.

Advertisers should consider that just a few particularly annoying ads are all it takes to motivate people to block all online ads. That's not a good thing for web sites or advertisers. Police yourselves or suffer the consequences.

I'm not sure what it is, but a couple weeks ago, this site has gotten so slow. Even opening up the site it is really slow, and then trying to post stuff or read threads. I have digital internet and it is slow for me now, yet all other sites I go to are just fine. So something must be acting weird on this site for sure.
