Captains chairs out, split bench seat in????

Just wondering if it is possible to get a split bench seat to bolt directly into an '07 with Captains chairs on the middle row. We have 5 children and no room for friends if we keep the capt. chairs.

Anyone know?

Thanks.

yeah it will bolt right in.

Ford uses Modular bodies for everything. Should be as easy as un-bolt, remove and re-bolt the new seat. Look for a XLT Expy...they had the bench only predominately

I've considered picking up a Bench seat myself. Plenty of room currently with the wife/3 kids...but I've got in-laws coming and I'd really like to have that 8th spot available...and all my kids are in carseats...so it's cramped at times.

now the question is how much a Bench would run? don't care if it's cloth/leather...just in decent shape.

The "split bench" isn't. It's three seats side by side. A bit more work than implied.

Not my truck, but you can see some of how they mount in this photo.

I guess I should have been more clear. I was speaking of the 40/20/40 bench seat. I didn't realize they had any other split style for the 07. So, by "a bit more work", I am assuming you mean that I will need to unbolt 2 seats and remove and bolt back in 3 seats?

I believe all 07's and up have three separate seats for the second row. You need to pull the carpet up and see if the holes are there for the bolts, if so you have to measure the width of a center seat and see if it will fit-I don't know if the captains chairs with the arm rests are wider than non-captains outer chairs.

Understood, I haven't bought it yet, but trying to convince my wife of it. She is dead set on 40/20/40 bench seat. I would remove the captains chairs and install the entire 40/20/40 (3 seats), so measuring captains chairs won't be needed.

Thanks for the input!

I have seen the second row on ebay recently. I am sure the dealer cost would be hefty.

I took the middle seat out of my bench to make captains chairs. The original seats actually have bolt holes for the arm rests built into them, so if you can find just a middle seat, you would be good to go. Not sure what the dealer price would be though, I might be coerced into selling mine, it has had a wet okole seat cover on it since day one, and been sitting in my garage for about 1.5 years. It is the black cloth interior. Very heavy though, not sure if S&H would be worth it.

They are under the fabric, push on the frame and you can feel them, but you would have to cut the actual seat cover.

Hmmm. I wonder if you can order just the armrests.

You can buy everything you need from your neighborhood Ford dealer. They will sell you and entire new truck part by part if you want.

I need to look into ordering just that center section. I'm glad to hear that it's just 3 seperate seats. Should hopefully cut down on my costs

just sucks though since I have that black/copper leather theme. bet that is expensive

I bought a second row center seat on ebay. (shipping was more than the cost of the seat, just the center section weighs 80 lbs,) My Navigator came with a console that attached with the same bolts that hold the center seat down. You might try a solid black seat, it might look good in the center...

Good luck.
