That's a never ending thing here, don't know what I'd do if the garage was clean. Probably make it messy again.

When are you doing the engine swap?

I'm back! My #%&$* computer took a crap again. One and a half months at the repair shop and I'm back on line. Wish I could afford a new 'puter but things are really tight this year. So you can once more look forward to my wit and wisdom

Holy crap batman, I thought you were just swapping engines. Why the complete disassembly?

Good to have you back Pete. I was wondering what happened to you, figured you got busy with farming and forgot about us

why

as i understand to get that block out it takes disassembling the whole front end, the 7.3 is a big engine and disassembly makes the issue of room less of an issue.

I think the hood and fenders can stay on, unless you really want to get into your work.

I believe removal of the bumper, grille, core support, radiator, intercooler and possibly the trans cooler would be enough to get the engine out. I could be wrong here, I've never pulled an engine out of a SD.

Probably make it a lot easier to get at the engine, but will be very time consuming reinstalling everything.

I'd really like to help, to see what it takes to remove one since I'll probably have to remove my engine sooner or later for an oil pan swap. Damned rust......

the hood is definitely coming off for visibility and manuever room, then the fenders are coming off for simlar reasons. if you wanna drive al the way up monday is gonna be the big day for me to lift it out. you are more than welcome to come up to superior if you want to see what it looks like in there.

OK, here's proof:
What I did with my Ford truck this Summer

I hope to someday upgrage to a Powerstroke, but untill then I'll keep chugging along with the old 7.3 IDI.
Six 6'X5' bales = 10,000 - 12,000 lbs. I moved 210 bales about 4 miles from this hay field back to my place.
