1988 F 350 is there a way to prime the system to see if a engine is having a fuel problem? Like on a carb engine shooting some starting fluid into the the carb?

there is a schrader valve on the fuel rail, you can hook a gauge up to it for line pressure testing, also with key off you can depress the little plunger and see if gas squirts out to know theres gas up there, if you got spark you can start it by filling a windex bottle with gas and squirting it into the throttle body

 

oh use xtreme caution when working with petrol too

what engine ? on most v-8's its on the front right fuel rail i do believe , its just a valve like what you have on your tires, take the cap off and depress the button and fuel should squirt out, dont do this with the key on or it'll spray everywhere
