1967 F-100 project

Since it's nice, I'm able to get some work done! Where I'm at now, is morphing the dash's together, the front section of the 67, that fits against the window opening, to the front section of the 79 dash. Forming the 79 dash to the window opening, to get it to fit perfectly, just wasn't going to work out, so I plan on cutting off the front section of the 67 dash, and welding it to the 79 dash.

Went down to the U-pull it yard today, and after an hour of wandering around, found a seat for the truck. Removed the new brackets (I think the truck was an 89), drilled out the threaded holes, where the bolts from the factory brackets went, then slipped on the 67's brackets. Fits like a glove! I'll have the seat recovered and refoamed when I get to doing the interior.

Since I've been working waay too many hours, I haven't had the time to work on the truck. But, I've had plenty of time (and now overtime money) to purchase some parts. Since I haven't been able to find any inner fenders locally that are not totally roached, I bit the bullet, and ordered a set from Dennis Carpenter. They look pretty nice. I'll have to get some epoxy on them soon, since they came as bare metal.

I also made a decision on what to do about mirrors. After seeing one of the other guys on here with them (thanks wyoming4x4!), I decided to go with the 92-96 F-150 mirrors. They work really well with the lines of the truck, and they are a decent size. Now, I had a debacle with Amazon with these. I ordered two. When they came in, I got 5. The next day, I got 4 more. Called Amazon, they cancelled the order, it was still showing it hadn't shipped yet! Sent me return tags. Next day, 3 more show up! Got return tags for those also. They only over charged me for one mirror, but they took the charge off for the pass. side one, and only charged me for the drivers side. Oh, and got power ones, plan on wiring them up for that.

Another parts update. Ordered the AC evaporator from Summit, it's a Vintage Aire generic model. I wanted it now, so I can get it mocked up in the cab, to make sure everything fits and all the holes are drilled before paint. Oh, and also ordered a chrome cover from Summit for the front axle.

The cab mount bushings were another story. I talked to Bart at Dennis Carpenter about them, since they don't offer a kit for the 4x4. It's odd, since the 4x4 uses the same bushings, front and back, as the front 2wd bushings. After talking with him, he said they'd make up a set, and send them to me. But, I think he just sent me the regulare 2wd kit. So, I'm wondering, since the back ones need to be the same height as the front ones, can I just cut the back ones down, instead of sending them back.

So, one of the things that's been slowing me down is the brake/clutch pedals. I had originally planned on using the pedals out the 89, since I'll probably use the MC and clutch reservoir out of it. But, the mount for the pedals is about 3 inches too deep, for the dash. There realy isn't a way to shorten it, either. Going with the 67 pedals won't work with the M/C and clutch, so I did some poking around online, thinking of doing an aftermarket pedal setup. Most of them weren't really what I was looking for. Then, totally by accident, I found a brand new set of 92-96 F-250 pedals on E-bay. I think they match up perfectly with the 89 pedals, and they won't interfere with the dash. I'll just have to build a support from the pedal assy. to the dash, which won't be a big deal. But, this is holding up the whole dash progress, so hopefully this works!
