Just talked to the blaster, plans are to get the box there sometime the week of the 19th of this month. That should work perfectly, I'm off the following week, so, I can make an patch repairs to the floor, and then get this thing into epoxy.

Wow, that is going to be quite the undertaking getting the bedside off(and back on). Though I am very curious to see it happen.

Amigo, you are going to a lot of trouble, but doing it right. I have often admired the Dodge beds, with the top of the side that opens for a tool box access... very nifty idea. I have toyed with doing the same on my bump, but would like a trail blazer, like you, to figure it out first... so... I will follow closely if you decide to get into that mod...

Good luck with the bed, whatever you decide to do..

LOL! I'm being enough of a glutton for punishment without going that route! Cool idea, though!

My first idea was to fashion some sheet metal doors, to enclose in the inside of the bed, making them open to the bed inside, and provide a shelf / tray for long tools, chains, and such. I may still do that, if I can find a sheet metal shop near me in Baja.. we shall see..

That would probably be pretty easy to fab up, going from the inside. That's not a bad idea.....

I thought so, and that is just wasted space most of the time.. If I get it done, I will be carrying things like a pry bar, chains, high lift jack, cheater bar, broom, and a few odds & ends that always seem to be rolling around in the bed. I thought to put a long piano hinge on the door bottom, and some sort of double latch at the top, with a key entry, like some of the utility boxes have. I also thought of double supporting dog leash chains, to hold the door at 90 deg, for a small shelf when its open. Always a handy thing to have a flat spot to sort things out, or hold my beer..

I used that area of the bed to hold a spare driveshaft back in the day.

Put some pipe on the bed sides to hold nuke rods to make a nuclear powered truck.
