I may have to do this also. Getting that glass off is an enormous PITA!

That tailgate is a really nice piece. I've ordered a few things from DC for the OBS, and have always been pleased with the fit and finish of them so hopefully you have the same success with the tailgate.

It's a really nice piece. I'm hoping to fit it on here maybe this weekend.

Pat, The tail gate looks great!

Speaking of stimulus I haven't got my check yet either.

And here you guys thought I hadn't been working on the truck! Shame on you....

Passenger side is welded. Second time came out much, much better. Pain in the butt, but, worth the effort. As you can see, I have a couple of patches to make. Have the new pieces cut, just need to weld them in. Then it's off to the drivers side. That's going to be a whole other story.

Welding don't do so good if you rush it, I've learned to hit the switch and walk away an do something else so you're not tempted to make a few more tacks...

Yep! I was very careful, to only do so much at a sitting, then wander off and do something else. I was also using an air gun to keep it cool

I've never tried using the air gun , you think it helps or just speeds things up...?

I just prefer to use it, for that Just-in-case thing. Insurance against warping.

Do you think it would prevent warping..? I usually use a hammer and dolly to stretch it back out from the heat shrink..

In this case, yes. I can planish it, no access to the back for a dolly. So, to keep the heat down, I use air.

I'll have to try it when I weld the patch in at the back of the cab..
