I'm actually not doing the welding. My welder is a little small for that, so, I'm having one of the guys here at work do it. He's a nuclear certified welder. Pretty much an artist of welder.

And, btw, I've done plenty of welding on this truck already, I'm not a "burner".

Nice progress Pat. Glad we're finally getting some spring weather that allows us to get these projects out of hibernation. I was starting to think spring and summer had been cancelled this year for fear of global warming!

Well, crap. Just talked to our machinists, the die to do the threads on that drag link is one they don't have. And, it would require a right hand thread (available), and a left hand thread (not so much). And the dies are 80 bucks a piece, for something I'd use only once. So, looks like I'm going to be better off just returning this drag link and the tie rod joint, and ordering the adjustable drag link that Superlift sells. Nuts.

Nice work Pat. I bet that your buddy is an artist when it comes to welding.

It works out that way sometimes, Pat. When all else is equal, go the cheaper route that involves less work!

Would have been nice to save that extra 90 bucks! But, so be it. Arranged the parts to be returned to Bronco Graveyard, then I'll order that Superlift adjustable drag link from them.

Started work on the drivers door. First thing, filled in all the trim holes, and a couple of the smaller mirror mount holes I won't be using.

Now on to the corners. This door I'll have to replace them, the passenger door is nice and clean.

I noticed that the backside of the corners has rot also. This won't be fun, with the different angles. But, with a little work with a hammer, and an I-beam section I have, I was able to pretty much duplicate the first one. Welded it on, and checked it with the piece I cut off the front, fits perfect.
