Sync and Text Messaging
#16
my old windows 7 phone would both read and allow me to respond to texts by speaking back. it worked extremely well. My new android phone wont do either (or i cant figure it out). I believe the windows phone worked so well is because both the truck's and the phone's operating system is microsoft. I have a 2013 model year.

The iPhone only supports receiving text messages through SYNC. Currently, there is no way to send a response from this type of phone. Keep an eye out for software updates (both for the phone and SYNC).

I'm using a phone my works provides me, or i'd buy something better because i hate it; however, it is a Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro. It was a few generations behind before they even bought them. Thanks for trying to help; I appreciate any tips you may have.

When walking through the pairing process, keep an eye on the screen of the phone. Many Android phones will show a quick message asking if you'd like to allow SYNC to access the phone's information. You must select YES or the text message feature will not work properly.
Once the phone is paired to SYNC, tap SETTINGS, then BLUETOOTH, then SYNC (on your phone). You should see an option to set SHOW NOTIFICATIONS to ON. Once you've switched this option to ON, turn the engine off and open the door until the SYNC screen goes blank. Start the truck back up and have someone send you a test text message. Let me know how it goes!

I have tried deleted the phone from the Sync and Sync from my phone. Still the same. I have not tried erasing the Sync system and doing a reboot but I guess I can try that later today.

I don't see that option on my phone. I only have Sync Contacts. Then groups : Phone Favorites, Phone Recents, and all contacts.
