Yes you should have a connector on the passenger side of the transmission. It is the one that does the shifting and controls the pressure and clutch. In other words it is the connector that feeds the all the solenoids inside the transmission.

Yes the solenoid pack connector is on the passenger side, IIRC mid pan, it points straight up. There is a small shield there to help protect it from the exhaust heat. Hard to see, harder to unplug!

It actually shifts softly when I am driving normally. maybe I should not replace anything yet?

I wouldn't just yet, drive it and see what happens first.

It was shifting hard because it defaulted to high pressure because of the fault. You cleared the codes so now its shifting right again. If it starts shifting harsh again pull the codes.

Yea hopefully you don't have a problem, may have just got wet at some point...who knows?

If it truly has something wrong with it you won't go far and the fault will return again.

That did not last long

The really rough shifting is back.

Instead of putting a battery cut off switch on the truck I think I will have to fix the problem. Ha! I will pull the codes again and see if it is reading the same thing.

Sounds like it went away after you played with the wiring and now it is back.
My guess is the wiring and connectors as I can not see the pressure solenoid in the transmission working and then not working but I could be wrong as I am not that knowledgeable on the E4OD yet. I have one now so I guess I had better get that way.

It still has to be one of these items:
Possible causes
--Damaged harness connector.
--Damaged EPC solenoid.
--Damaged MLP sensor.
--Intermittent harness continuity.
--Damaged PCM connector pins.

I take it the speedometer is still working OK and no ABS light on.

Aww crwap I was afraid of that.

When are you getting the 624 code? displayed during the "KOEO" section? or the "CM" section?

Hopefully its just in the KOEO section, if so yea you gotta have a bad connection somewhere along the harness.

If its a CM code it may not be that simple.....

CM section? whe I plug the ground to the self diag plug and put the Key On, Engine Off the code it flashes is the 6-2-4 code. when it is running I get no flashing check engine light. The speedometer is working fine and so is the ABS light (not on)

The harness that runs to the Drivers side of the transmission is reading correctly. I do not have a break in the line on that one. I will have to check the passanger side one next.

When you run the self test you are doing two things, you are running a "self test"= KOEO test and then checking for stored codes in CM. KOEO, problem codes, or a system pass "111", whichever the case may be.
Then it will display a separator code then report any codes stored in it's Continuous Memory. Either displaying trouble codes, or system pass "111" A problem has to happen more then once to store a CM code.

Important to note what type of codes you received, be it KOEO or CM.

Your next move is dependent on that information.

Do you get a system pass for the KOEO self test section? if not I still lean toward a simple connection problem.

Ok things have changed sense you posted the results on page one, but that is or could be a good sign, should be a fairly easy fix, was intermittent but now lost connection? I would test the connections between the computer's main connector and solenoid pack connector for continuity. (Should be a white-yellow wire) Also verify the Red and or White/red wires have key on 12v+ to them.

Computer stands vertical slid into a slot in the firewall down low under the brake master cylinder, the connector is the only part you can see. Pin #38

The solenoid pack connector is on just over the top of the pan flange on the passenger side of the trans. Pin #11 white-yellow, pin #12 white-red or red wire.
Subford posted the connector diagrams on page two for ya.
