Dana 60 gear oil

Is the 75w 90QL synthetic gear oil for the front axle on my 04 SD a dealer item? The only type I have found is the Mobil One full synthetic in 75- 90w but it says for GL-4 and 5 applications. Also says for conventional and limited slip differentials but nothing about QL. Just wondering difference between the QL and the GL. Thanks for any input.

Ok I think I got my answer. The QL is part of the Ford description. Another forum had about the same question and the answers were to use a good quality synthetic 75-90w in the dana 60 so I am going to use the Mobil One. Nothing like answering my own question..Sorry I wasted the forum space...

Any 75w-80 or 75w-90 will be fine in the D60. The Mobil 75w-90 is very good, but next time I do gear oil changes I'll be putting in Amsoil Severe Gear in both ends.

Thanks for the info cartmanea. I'm just topping them off before the snow flys. They were talking about the Amsoil Severe Gear on another site, I'll keep that in mind when I do the total fluid change in the spring.

I don't think synthetic is necessary in the front.
