For sale 53-56 big job HOOD SCOOP!!!!
I have a Big job hood scoop up for your consideration. These are as hard to find as Bin Laden! It is in original condition no dents just 55 years of old paint. The chrome grill looks like it will clean up nice. Looking for $400.00. I will try to get some pictures on today. This will fit 53-56 f100 and up hoods. This scoop will set your f100 apart from everybody else. PM me if interested! Mark

I just mounted the factory hood scoop and the lower air vent tube under the hood on my F-100 as they would in 56 in the correct location if you would haved special ordered one back then, but only the 1956 year truck models would have them of this style, and no they don't look like a t-bird hood scoop. The chrome grill is very different, and the t-birds scoop is moulded to the hood. Now after doing a lot of research on this matter, in order to make it factory correct for your truck you would have to have a special D.S.O. number on your vin data I.D. plate as I have, otherwise it wouldn't be factory or dealership correct. The D.S.O. numbers for 56 would be something like this, XX-XXX, two digits then either 3 or four more digits. The first group of two digits is for area location of order and the next group is the Ford dealers invoice number for the special order equipment request. Also these hood scoops came standard on all "Big Job" trucks of 56 when ordered with a 4 barrel carb. Stan

Stan, Looks good! I have one on one of my 56's. I hate to bring on bad news but they were NEVER on any F100's.
They only came on F700's F800's and F900's with the 332 Lincoln Y block with 4 v carb. THATS IT!
The DSO you are talking about means that your truck was ordered say with a FLEET color option etc. I had a F600 with a DSO and the frame was factory painted RED for a fire truck.
Original or not it still looks great.

Hi kevin, knowing that my truck was a special order with a early (5) digit DSO number from Long Beach Cal in 56, it would make it possible of having a ordered idem like this. My truck has many other factory ordered idems, radio, heater, turnsignals, gears and two-tone paint, some listed on data plate. And I agree, they look great.....Happy FOMOCO'n.........Stan

Factory ordered items did not get a DSO designation as these items were FACTORY avail. The DSO is for Fleet Utility vehicles that were being ordered with NON factory items such as PAINT combinations Say a utility wanted yellow trucks with black fenders this would be a DSO and then the plant would do a run of 200 trucks with this combo for the utility.
"A DSO is an internal ford production code that groups batches of similary equipped trucks to be built at the same time so that the specific parts used will be correctly scheduled to be on the assembly line as this group of trucks is rolling down the line. Thus a group of f100 trucks destined for a particular utility company would get a specific DSO number plus the 2 digit code indicating where the UTILITY is located"
The above statement was Quoted from ford red book
I have never seen a DSO utility truck well optioned as they were bare bones inexpensive fleet vehicles

Kevin, great information. My serial number F10D6L-XXXXX matches the frame stamping so I know I have the correct data plate. Maybe you can help explain my DSO number on my F-100. DSO # "71-001" thats on my data plate. Also help on what the production number means. Production # 24G-5513C..Thanks Stan
