Stan,

First of all lets do the vin:
F = ford
10= F100
D= 6Cylinder
6= model year 1956
L= plant of production in this case L is Michigan Truck plant

DSO 71-001 all I can tell you is the DSO was done for a Los Angles Utility thats what the 71 means. As for the 001 I have no idea what the modification is

I do not have info on production #'s either

Hope all this helps, Kevin

Stan,
L is Long Beach for 53-55's but it does not show trucks being built at Long Beach from 56 and up.

I would have expected your vin to have an R in this spot as that is the San Jose Plant that opened in 56 It is odd that a truck would be built for a utility in Michigan for a Los Angeles Utility. I wonder if ALL DSO built trucks were assembled at the Michigan Plant?

The other thing I noticed is the V8 emblem and the vin shows 6 cyl. What about the trans option does, the tag show fordomatic?

I will do some more digging, in the mean time get your post count up to 25 so I can Pm you on this site.

Steve,

Buy it! I think the scoops have been selling for $400 - $500 without a hood

Steve buy it and we can work something out, I still have Y block parts that you wanted way back when. I just tripped over that F600 oil pan you wanted last week. Cool let me know.

Hi kevin, ya I know it has the V-8 and fordomatic emblem, I put them on when I up dated to a 289V8 C4 package out of a 64 1/2 Mustang. Better than a small block Chevy in a Ford. It runs great.... Anyways, if Steve or you don't want the hood scoop that he is talking about and its for a 1956 model and not a 57 model and wants to make a buck or two, I am interested in another one around $450.00 range. I want to put one on a 56 M100 Big Window right-hand drive truck. I am dealing on a left-hand one now but I really want a RH one...Let me know if something come up on the scoop....Stan from California
