Hard starting after sitting overnight. New fuel injectors?
Hey guys. I just installed a new crate engine. Well, why I was at it, I put on a lot of new parts and one of them was some new fuel injectors from a fuel injection company I found on ebay. All 8 were only $99 with a lifetime warranty. Well, the first thing I noticed when I got them in the mail was how much lighter-weight they were. They looked really cheap and cheesy compared to the ford ones, but I figured they would be ok. Well, the truck runs good except a slight stumble in drive and it starts hard after sitting overnight like fuel is running back. Once it is started for the day it does ok. Should I put the original old ones back in or what? Any ideas? Thanks....
Well, as long as you don't damage any of the o-ring seals, you won't lose anything but time changing out the injectors to see if it makes any difference.
What do you mean "slight stumble in drive"?
As far as if fuel is leaking back or not, just turn the key to ON and leave it for a second or two to give the fuel pump time to prime the lines, then see if it starts any easier.

When you tested the fuel pressure (engine off) and then turned of the key to de-energize the pump, does it hold pressure within 5lbs of specified value (35 to 45lbs) for 1 minute?
If not it could mean the injectors are leaking down, other causes to but you do suspect the cheap feeling set of injectors you received.
If you need a full list of causes just ask.
I have a 96 F-150 302 and I just changed the fuel tank and fuel filter last week and noticed the same thing,no stumbles but overnight when I try to start it fails or runs rough for a couple of seconds the dies.On the second try its right there no troubles after that.
I came on here to find some answers myself,I was thinking that maybe my fuelpump is getting weak or maybe air in my lines?
Oh,this morning I turned the key ahead but only far enough to turn on the fuel pump, then I turned the key off.At that point I turned the key on and tried to start but it failed, tried again and it was fine.
bad pressure regulator
bad injector(s)
bad check valve(part of fuel pump)
put a pressure guage on engine, and like danr said watch the pressure. if it does leak down, put a clamp on the pressure (after energizing pump) and return line and check pressure. if it still drops, pull the injectors out of the manifold so you can put pressure to them while watching the nozzles and check and see if any are leaking, if so replace them, if not replace your pressure regulator.
edit: first remove vacuum line that runs to the regulator and check for fuel in it. if there is fuel, replace the regulator
