Tranny ?'s= while driving engine free revs like in neutral
Hello only twice now my truck has done this and its freaking me out. The first time i was taking a slow right out of a intersection and it stayed in first gear and did not shift...then today doing 65mph on the highway the engine started to free rev and acted like i was in neutral so I pulled over and put in neutral for 2 seconds and back to drive and it went into gear. And drove fine the rest of the day.....fluid level is fine and it doesnt leak a drop. When I bought it the tranny was rebuilt 20,000 miles ago and is still new looking(seals+painted factory grey, i know the mechanic who did the repairs and install before I bought it).
does anyone have any ideas where to look? never delt much with electronic trannys. Thanks.

It sounds to me like it's the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS.) I can't see how it could be the torque converter.
The TRS is the sensor on the driver's side of the trans where the shifter cable attaches. There is a wiring harness that plugs into the TRS. Replace the TRS and your problems should be gone.

Excellent just what i wanted to hear some external and easy...the wires do look like it was reused from rebuild...to save money? a friend at a shop did the rebuild for the PO. I checked it and the wires are spongy..i will get one at Ford and update this post. Just for future reference for everyone...thanks all.
