Butl85 brought up an interesting point for me. Has anyone ever turboed a 300? One thing I like about the 240/300 is I don't know of many other engines you can put a single barrel carb, or dual 4 barrels with not a lot of internal modifications. I just was curious if anyone had put a turbo on a 300, and if so what did it perform like? Gas Mileage? Pulling power?

And just like some others have said I don't buy the pulled a 30 ft Camper, and a boat up over a mountain pass at 80 mph. But if someone did this and saw a gain in power I would love to hear about it.

Granted some of the stories are exaggerated, the 300 is a pulling motor. It was designed to pull. What hurts the 300 is everything behind it. The 300, in my humble opinion, is best mated to a ZF-5 speed and 4.10 gear, slugging it out in a muddy field pulling 20,000 lbs in granny low.

I've personally pulled out a stuck 4-door diesel super duty attached to a 30-some foot camper trailer. First gear puller her out nice and slow.

An actual tow was 6,500 lbs or so. 2K RPM got the load moving do to the automatic transmission. The ole' girl didn't sweat it much; stopping is what made me nervous.

For what it is the 300 is a fine pulling motor so don't put it down. However I fully understand if all you guys are saying is not to exaggerate. A lot of online "warriors" exaggerate a lot on here. Personal experience is the main key in deciphering fact from fiction.
