Horn Location?

05' F250

Where is the horn located? I can't seem to locate it!

I am installing an air horn and I would like to cut the wires from the stock horn to disable it, and use those leads on the air horn.

Have someone honk the horn while you stand in front of the truck.

Why not install a SPDT switch in the dash so you can switch between the horn button triggering your factory horns or you air horns. Thats how I did my air horns.

Check our this thread on my setup, and i have some diagrams on the horn button wiring for a SPDT switch to select either the air horns or OEM horns for the horn button.

Its in the pass. side fender. Just pull the lining and you can get to it.

Getting to mine brought a few snarled explitives. It's just to the right of your right battery, behind a wall that makes the fender liner pull necessary. You might be able to get at the wires without pulling the whole thing. When I had to replace one of my horns, I remounted them to the bumper brace in front of the rt wheel, shielded it with a piece of sheet rubber/vinyl.
Good luck (pulliong the fender liner is a real PITA)

This is GREAT! I am going to do this for sure. I got the air all plumbed in to my onboard air today and don't think I have an leaks. (yeah!)

If I am reading this correctly I just look for the yellow wire w/ green tracer in the in-cab fusebox. Cut that wire, splice into a single pole switch (double position) and then run my wire to the air horn and the other pole goes to the stock horn? Where does the stock horn get its ground? I should be able to just ground the 2nd wire on the air horn solenoid to the frame correct?

You got it! The stock horn gets its ground from a wire, but I think it ties into a regular ground buss just a little ways on up the harness (from the OEM horn). You will be fine grounding your air horn solenoid to the frame, thats how I did mine.

Just a piece of advice, once you find that yellow wire with green tracer, probe it for 12v+ will pressing the horn button just to be 100% you got the right wire. Theres alot of wires in this area and they can all look identical when your twisted up under the dash.. LOL.

Have fun!
