What Are You Doing To Your Truck?
#1562
It's how someone stands up after things go wrong that tells you all you need to know about this guy's business ethics. Lots of places might just as easily have said, "Sorry, your tough luck, but I can sell you another one."
Is this place on Roscoe just east of Supulveda, on the south side?
The guy's name again?
Marc, do you know this guy?

OK, I know the place.
I was in there about three years ago, and there was a "kid" about 21 who was answering all the questions, even though it was kinda' obvious he was the owner's kin, didn't really know the business, and was just mindin' the store for his dad while he was away somewhere. He even had to call dad to answer one of my questions, but didn't get the "interpretation" correct. Wasn't impressed.
As I was getting into my truck, an old guy who had been watching all this came over and kinda' whispered, "Psst, Gary's now at Pacific Exchange out on Deering."
Hopefully, either "Dad" knows what he's doing, after all, or the place has once-again changed hands.

Yes, but since Gary left, I have no first-hand knowledge of their quality.
However, they've been in business since 1983, so they're not fly-by-night.
I guess your best bet is to go in and "interview" the counter guy to see if they're building in the quality, or building it "to a price".
Is your starter a NipponDenso (OSGR) or Mitsubishi (PLGR)? Other than solenoids and lube, not much goes wrong with the Mitsu's. The brushes are virtually eternal.

After grinding the front AND back of the alternator bracket (being super careful to avoid the upper radiator hose and the inter cooler tube) I mounted the alternator and new batteries (on the freshly painted battery tray) and started the truck for the first time in two weeks.
I have yet to take any readings but the alternator seems to be spinning the way it should.
Up next is to get Pop's OBD Bluetooth device working.

It might be just dead, David.
Though I have no idea of what might have happened, as I recall, it just stopped.
If it did, just throw it away and I'll start over.
Remember, the LEDs are on the wrong side, so maybe things inside that case are not as they should be to start with.
Reminder to self: NEVER end a sentence with a preposition! :-))

aside from my rear axle seals seeping and making the parking brake useless, the pedal in the cab would not release.... not a big deal for me, but if someone else moved the truck and set the parking brake i had one hellva time releasing it.
only took 2 hrs a little cussing and a dash or brute force and smidgen of violence to get the pedal assembly out. nah im just jokein, in reality it came out better than i was expecting.
de greased it, made an adjustment to the non adjustable release spring, and re lubed it and viola!! it works!
sorry no pics.
