Window regulator and door panel removal on 05 f150

My drivers side window fell down today and a mechanic looked at it and told me it was the window regulator. I purcchased one and wonder if anyone has any hints for the door panel removal and instalation.
Thanks

well, just be careful with the small plastic piece that sits behind the door release handle. Other than that, you have two screws behind there, one screw under the main control panel (window and door lock controls is held in by clips just pry carefully and disconnect the harness), then you will need to pop off the speaker grille (again uses clips and be cautious) and remove the speaker, then go ahead and get the two screws on the very bottom of the door panel. at this point you can start lifting the panel straight up and lift away. After you get it freed from the slide clips, you can take the inside door handle out by working it out sideways from the door panel, this way you can move the whole door panel away from the work area and keeping it from getting damaged. Masking tape or packing tape will work good here when you want to keep the window up while you work on the regulator. But if you have tinted windows then only tape from the outside...otherwise you might be getting the window retinted. The plastic wind-screen will need to be pulled away. Mine was a 2005 and the dum-dum wasn't too set, so you can pull the plastic away gently and still keep the dum-dum in place and just fold down the plastic. You will have to unbolt the window clamps that attack the window to the regulator. This is where you need to brace up the window and use the tape to retain it. There are two "windows" in the door to get to the bolts up top. Be careful and make sure the glass is secure before, during and after removing those two clamps. Then you have two bolts up top and two on the bottom for the regulator channels, and one bolt in the middle to brace the motor. Disconnect the plug that is secured on the panel coming from the motor and you should have a mess of steel cable, frame, motor and broken plastic guides sitting on the driveway. Reverse and enjoy the glory of power windows.

edit to add: please if anyone sees anything I might have missed please let me know...I have slept a few days since I did my last regulator.

I am really starting to think that STX 4x4 might have been a better choice for me now. lol

Hope this helps,
D

2005 Power Window

I have a 2005 xlt extended cab f150. I too had a problem with the window. It would not come back up. After removing the panel I could see apulley like part with frayed cable around it. Any suggestions what that part is called and advice on how to replace it?? Thanks much. anything will help.
