1996 F350 5.8 with e4od. stock motor.
when the motor goes back in the truck, i'll be running ford motorsport stainless shorty headers and a stainless bassani Y pipe with high flow cat. 3" single exit after the cat. I'd like to run a single muffler with one outlet, then a tailpipe that dumps out in front of the passenger rear tire. i like a nice, deep exhaust, but this is also a plow truck so i don't need to be waking up my customers at 3am with a loud exhaust. I'm looking for something that doesn't kill the performance benefit of the headers /y pipe, but doesn't annoy people either. a stainless muffler would be nice to continue the theme, but is not required.
what do you guys suggest?

my neighbor as a f350 gutter truck. it carries a 900lb gutter machine in the back of a 10 foot utility box bed. hes got a 460 with long tube headers and a y pipe going into a flowmaster 70. it sounded great and could hall a$$! it had that wonderful big block runble but was nice and quiet until you romped on it. then it came to life. but thats the best muffler ive head of.

i have a bassani off road pipe (no cats) on my mustang 5.0 with dual flowmaster 3 chambers. it sounds great, but not in someone's driveway at 3am. i love a deep exhaust as much as the next car guy.
a muffler that opens up at 3 grand or more would be ok. as i do my plowing under 1500 rpm, with some bursts up to 2 grand. i'll take a look art the flowmaster 70 you mention. any other thoughts?

I like the sound of baffled mufflers and it's my opinion Flowmaster sounds pretty deep. I would look at the 50 series-on-up. The 50 series may still be a bit too loud for your big block, but check them out.
$140 is over priced. The most you should pay for a Flowmaster from the Flowmaster company is $100?
Flowmaster.

There are alot of diferent price ranges for the mufflers but as in anything you get what you pay for.
The cheaper pipes as in cherry bombs will only last a few years but if you go with a stainless flowmaster the price is quite a bit higher but you wont have to change it in a few years.
probably workes out about the same in the end, just one is more work. I put cherry bombs on my old relick, but i knew they were only going to last untill i need a new motor in it, then it will get the good set on it. Just My Opinion though
