What is the part number for the "better" stainless studs from Ford. My local dealer only shows the standard steel replacements for about a buck each. I think i have seen the better ones are $7 or $8 each. Are they worth the extra $$. Any other sources for a quality replacement.

 

Ford stainless replacement parts; Studs-W703902-S403, Nuts- W701706-S2. Used them to make repairs to my truck about 3 years ago. They have not been a problem since. Look up thread on this job. It is a real pain in the buttocks.

 

Im just wondering, why not just use stainless bolts from the hardware store instead of studs and nuts?

 

If you can find them, super. But usually exhaust studs have coarse threads going into the head, and fine threads on the outside. It certainly would be cheaper. The Ford stainless studs were expensive!
