Windshield Installation

Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to install a windshield on a 65 Ford Ranchero. I'm having difficulties and the instructions that were included with the new windshield rubber are vague and not very helpful. This windshield uses the stainless trim around it to essentially "lock" the windshield in place. The whole is a bitch trying to keep all the stainless on and the rubber gasket around the windshield on all at the same time. A guy needs at least eight hands! Any help would be appreciated.

I just had the windshield replaced in my 66 f100 (has the trim around it)
the guy used masking tape to hold it in place untill they got it set in the frame.

They put the gasket on the window first then installed the trim.
Hope that gives you some ideas.

Thanks for the advice I appreciate it and maybe I'll give that a try, or just pay someone to do it before I break something!

That is a good idea to tape the chrome in place before you set the windsheild back. Once it is in the frame the rubber should squeeze tight to keep the chrome in.
I use soft ropes to put windsheilds in. Lube then up with soapy water adn set the bottm of the glass in and slowly pull the rope out over the frame. This will pull the rubber lip over the frame lip. The soap acts as a lubricant making it easir.
You start pulling the rope out from the bottom edge and work your way around to the top center. The corners can be tricky.
But the tape to help hold the chrome trim in place is a good idea.

You need two people, one to pull the rope and one to push the window from the outside into place.

when the shop did mine they slaped the windshield into place with an open hand.

Done that and next had bunch of cracks. They have to slap along the edge. If they hit away thatis when you can crack it.
Two people is better than alone. But I have installed my Econoline truck windsheild by myself. Still in the truck with no cracks.
