Front Bumper Installation

I have a new bumper to install and am not sure if there should be any brackets that attach to the frame rails. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I just took mine off the other day...... it was 4 bolts directly to the frame, no brackets.

Mine is a F150, but I cant imagine there is any difference. Hope this helps.

Pics would be great. I wasn't smart when I removed it years ago to start the rebuild/resurection and didn't pay any attention to how it came off and whether or not there were any brackets. Thanks.

Really? the 79 i'm working on had NO brackets. It bolted directly to the frame. They are the same bumper from 73-79 right?

Uh-oh. There was a thread about this before I believe. I have seen F250's with and without brackets.

Does anyone know if these are available for sale anywhere? I haven't seen them in my online travels.

I'll save Bill (Numberdummy) some time. This is what he posted in another thread. I checked Greensales and they still have 1 of each. Not sure on the other vendors, but I'm sure they still have them as well.

"The F250 (and F350) front bumper brackets are NOT part of the frame rails!

The following fit: 1973/79 F250 2WD/4WD // 1973/77 F350 (1978/79 F350's use different brackets).

D3TZ17752A .. Right Front Bumper Bracket / Obsolete

DON SANDERSON FORD in Glendale AZ has 20 = 623-842-8762

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has one: 800-543-4959.
---------------------------------------------------------
D3TZ17753A .. Left Front Bumper Bracket / Obsolete

DON SANDERSON FORD has 26.

GREEN SALES CO. has one.

Sanderson Ford has a lot of obsolete parts, sells them for well below their original cost. "

That's interesting, why do they have brackets are the frame "horns" different up front?

I believe IIRC the spring mounts are in the way and the bumper has to be moved out a bit on the early f250 4x4's. I may be wrong.
