67? speedo cable

just started working on my truck and im not sure if i got the right speedo cable or not. the vin number on the door does not match anything the truck has so im not sure what year it is. body is a 67 swb ranger. the running gear is 352, np435,dana 21, and it sits higher than a normal 4x4. the speedo cable i bought does not have a plastic gear on it its just the metal nipple sticking out is that the right one? also im new here im usually in a diff forum but they dont have a spot for old trucks.

Welcome to FTE

The speedo cable does not come with the driven gear, because...

There can be as many as 6 different toothed driven gears, as it depends on the rear axle ratio, transmission type, tire size.

Some of these gears are plastic, some are fiber, some are iron.
-------------------------------------------------------------
The size of the engine makes no difference as to what speedo cable is applicable.

C5TZ17260Y .. Speedometer Cable / 70.80" long.

Fits: 1966/72 F100 4WD NP435.
-------------------------------
C7TZ17260AA .. Speedometer Cable / 101.42" long.

Fits: 1967/72 F250 4WD NP435.

I can't help you on the driven gear until I know what the tire size and rear axle ratio are.

Sorry, I never heard of a tooth wheel before, what is it?

There are two speedo gears. The driven gear is on the end of the cable, the drive gear is on the output shaft of the transmission.

The driven gear meshes with the drive gear.

The plastic driven gear could be wrong, it might take the fiber one instead.

But like I said, I cannot help until I know what the rear axle ratio is, what size the tires are.

This is only way to look up these gears in the parts catalog. Without this info, there's nothing I can do.

Which rear axle does the truck have? Ford 9" or one of the two Dana's?

btw: Look at your doors, do they have lock *****, or do you push the inside handles forward to lock the doors?

1967 F100/350 doors are 1967 ONLY.
