Need to replace coil springs on '03 Expy (2WD)
Just trying to get some opinions on whether to replace original stock springs (with 100k miles) with Ford OEM springs or go with after-market which will obviously be of a lowered nature...
I've used Eibach's in the past for my cars but not sure the wife wants her Expedition lowered!!
I can't seem to find OEM springs anywhere with a Google search, only lowering kits.
Any hints or places to get pricing on Ford parts that aren't through the roof? I know local dealerships want a crazy amount so that's not really an option.
TIA

They are worn out & have a lot of bounce in them now. Wife's vehicle and she carts the kids around in it. 1 of my kids gets car sick VERY EASILY and the "hoopty" bouncing effect is not working out too well if ya know what I mean!!

Get ya some firm new shocks and you're gonna be fine. Springs last many hundreds of thousands of miles, usually.

+1 very good damping for our heavy vehicle. Handling will improve tremendously too, you and your wife will surely notice. It wouldn't hurt to replace all 4 if budget is not an issue. My experience is with 99 XP, yours being '03 has rear indie suspension(?) but I bet the improvement using Bilstein will be just as good.

Fella's thx for the replies about the shocks but already did that about 6 month's ago (did all 4 w/Bilstein's) and that was OK for a little while. But I've riden in the 3rd row recently and it's pretty bouncy.
Not nice & firm like a new '09 Expy Limited we drove a couple weeks back.

Did you ride in the rear seat of the '09?
I put some really stiff shocks on an old '86 GMC van many years ago, and it made the rear rows really bouncy per your clarified description. A huge bump would launch passengers in the rear bench vertically. The stiffer shocks, like your Bilsteins, will cause the vehicle to "track" bumps more directly by keeping the springs from deflecting as much--in effect making the suspension too firm for comfort.. And passengers sitting right over the axle get the worst of the vertical motion. You probably need some looser shocks to get where you're going. Maybe put the old ones back on Another solution is to pick smoother roads to drive on. The best solution is to only put little kids in the back seat and they'll think the bouncing is fun like an amusement park ride. As long as they're not prone to carsickness.

agree , why not look for a set of shocks thats close to stock , you deffinatly dont need springs man , my 99s got 200xx miles on it and the previous owner used it as a tow rig and all i did wen i got it is replace the shocks , i got the cheepest ones i could find ( on a budget ) and she rides good as new
