I/M is an acronym for Inspection and Maintaince test. But for folks in Anchorage I'm sure they lovingly refer to it as In need of Money. It's one joke of a program. Nothing but a way for the city to make money

I don't know if it is such a joke. I grew up in PA where you have to get a yearly state inspection on a car breaks, lights, horn, tires, seat belts, body condition, and other safety things. It kept some cars and trucks off the road that shouldn't be there. I have worked on some car trucks up here that should not be driving on the road and have seen many more just driving around. Just becasue the engine starts and it moves doesn't mean it is safe to drive. Yeah it is another way for the government to steal money from people but at least this one I kind of agree with.
In PA there where always "lick and stick" places that would pass almost any vehicle for the right "incentive" Any garage could get cert from state to perform inspections is that how they do it in Anchorage or is it a city run program with city garages doing the inspection?
Coming to Juneau? First I have heard of that what's your source?

well looks like the IM testing will be ending, yea!
"Given their views, and prior votes of continuing Assembly members, emissions testing is likely to end, though it takes awhile to shut down the program."

if its 68-74 all you have to do is pass tailpipe test no visual emissions test.. motohome IM test would be cake though unless there is major wrong, becuase it such a high GVRW they are allowed to pollute allot
